National Butterbeer Float Day... or Root, whatever.


According to the National Food Calendar (please give me access to this so I can pre-plan), it's National Root Beer Float Day! WHA??? My childhood was speckled with many a floats and they were super tasty.  I firmly support this national... holiday?

Tonight, I decided since we didn't have root beer in the house that I would make some ButterBeer Floats! We had pretty much everything you need for a Butterbeer and I'm in a Harry Potter mood, so why not. No excuse really needed though.

They were super simple and yummy!


Butterbeer Float
Serves 2

12 oz Cream Soda
1/2 tsp butter extract, divided
1/2 tsp rum extract, divided
2 scoops vanilla bean ice cream, softened
2 frosty mugs

- Pour 1/4 tsp butter and rum extract into each mug.
- Add one scoop ice cream to each mug
-  Add 6 oz of cream soda to each mug, stir with spoon.

It becomes instantly foamy and wonderful. Consume immediately!!

I'm keeping this one in my back pocket and trying it out with butterscotch ice cream.
